Let's drive night trains forwards – not backwards!

Night trains are an environmentally and socially just way to travel long distances – not to mention an exciting way to lay your head on the pillow in one country and wake up surrounded by new scenery. As the best alternative to air traffic, a mode of transport that must be drastically reduced for the sake of people and the planet in the midst of intensifying climate breakdown, they deserve to expand, not disappear.

But when travelling by night train today you have far less options than you did in the 1970s. Just this year the news came through that the Paris to Berlin night train faces cancellation – it's time to put the brakes on this and change the direction of travel.
